About Coluors
Coluors is a small, independent project built around one idea: that telling two almost-identical colors apart is harder — and more fascinating — than it sounds. The centerpiece is Spot the Color, a free browser game where every round hides one tile that's a slightly different shade, and the difference shrinks until your eyes give out.
Why we made it
It started as a tiny experiment in color perception. The game generates its tiles by nudging a single value — lightness — by smaller and smaller amounts each round, which turns out to be a surprisingly honest test of how finely you can see. We wrote up exactly how that works if you're curious about the math.
What you'll find here
Beyond the game, we publish plain-English articles about color and vision — how a colorblind test works, the types of color blindness, the HSL color model, and the science of spotting subtle differences. The goal is simple, accurate, genuinely useful writing — no fluff.
Independent and free
Coluors is run by an independent developer, not a company. The game is free to play and supported by advertising so it can stay that way. We keep data collection minimal — see our Privacy Policy for the details.
