How to Play

Spot the Color is a one-rule game: every round shows a grid of tiles that all look the same color — except one, which is a slightly different shade. Tap the odd tile to score and advance. Each round the grid grows and the shades get closer, so it gets harder fast.

Game modes

Timer

You have a fixed number of seconds. A correct tap adds a small time bonus; a wrong tap costs you 3 seconds. Score as much as you can before the clock hits zero.

Lives

You start with a set number of lives. Every wrong tap costs one life. The run ends when you're out of lives — no clock, just precision.

Difficulty

Normal grows the grid more gently and keeps shade differences a little wider. Hard starts larger, grows faster, and squeezes the shades much closer together.

Scoring & best score

Each correct tile is one point. Your best score is saved per mode in your browser, so Timer and Lives keep separate records.

Tips

Soften your focus and let the odd tile "pop" rather than scanning tile by tile — peripheral vision is great at catching contrast. Curious why it gets so hard? Read how the off-shade tiles are generated.
